Mazrui Gathering Experience

23rd January 2026 was a special day. We gathered with my father’s family starting from morning 11 am until 10 pm.

We had lunch, desserts and evening BBQ.

I was happy to see everyone especially that we don’t meet regularly.

The farm’s set-up was a unique one. It had walking pathways, trees and bushes. There was a sitting area outside beside the kids playground. Another sitting area next to the swimming pools.

It had beautiful places to use as backgrounds for family photos.

One of my favourite things to do during such gatherings is catching up and have meaningful conversations and moments. The memorable moments I would always cherish are:

  1. When distributing salad and chilli in small bowls

  2. Watching my uncles walking and chatting while going to masjid for prayers

  3. Introducing kids to each other

  4. Having meals together and asking about relatives we haven’t seen for long time.

  5. Watching my cousins leave the farm and come back freely

  6. Taking family photos as groups

  7. When all my uncles, aunties and cousins had our BBQ dinner in the same sitting area.

Lastly, I felt emotional and sad seeing some of my uncles and aunties grow old. Sometimes I wish if time stops and we live together forever. But this is what Allah created us for. Come to duniya as weak children. Grow to be strong and responsible adults. And then grow old and weak again. May Allah bless them all and protect them always.
