Stillness in the Midst of Noise
When you cross through situations in life or take important decisions, you would always hear people commenting, telling you their opinions, trying to advise you and put their critics and judgments in whatever is happening in your life.
Well for me, because I like to observe from a distance, those opinions are only opinions and people’s own projections of their own worldview perspectives. Just because a person faced a situation and handled it in a specific way, it doesn’t mean you need to do the same thing. Each one of us has got our unique experiences and separate ways of handling them.
What I like to do in such a context is go inside my own mind. What do I really think? Does this make any sense? Is this applicable to my circumstance? Does this person know all about me and the situation to judge and comment like that? What is my personal opinion about this? Does it really matter what others say?
This reflective process gets you still in the moment. It releases you from the tension and burdens that others try to put on you. It also clarifies your separate and unique opinions and values. It gives you back your sense of self, groundedness, worthiness, validation and recognition.
And again, this doesn’t mean you are being ignorant or you make people feel less important of themselves. But it rather means you accept we all are unique and different. No matter what you and how hard you try, people would always comment and find flaws and gaps. And remember. We all are equal human beings created on this earth hotel by One God. We breath, eat, drink and get closer to our departure dates (death dates) day by day. If that is the case, then why bother what they think and what statements they tell you?
