Before Surgery Accident

Today 28th January 2025 was the last day for my 4 years old son to be in his halo pelvic traction fixtures.

Unexpectedly, we were playing ball, throwing and catching. He was standing in front of me. He threw the ball. I missed it and went to the bin area to get it.

When I came back, I saw him laying flat on his back on the floor. I immediately grabbed him and helped him to stand back on his feet.

He started crying. I carried him and kept him on the bed. In that point, I saw his head screws (the front ones on top of his eye brows) opened. And the area on top of his left ear was slightly bleeding. I immediately called the nurses and doctors to come check him.

When the doctor arrived, he joked with him: We are supposed to remove your fixtures tomorrow. And you accidently opened a part of it today. Then he removed 3 screws from around his head and informed the nurse to apply ointment gel on the pin site area. Also he requested us not to allow him walk or stand until morning the following day.

What a situation. It was hard and scary. I kept telling him: Don’t worry. They will remove all your metals and put a cast for your back. You are fine.

Finally, I thank Allah for protecting my son in that moment. And I am grateful for spending the whole time period of traction in the hospital. It would have been for more risky if we were at home when this accident happened.
