Traction to Casting

Today 29th January 2025 is the day my 4 years old son entered the operation room for removal of his halo pelvic traction fixtures and for the cast application also.

We were in the room. I was reading and he was awake watching cartoons. The nurse came and said: It is time to go.

So they brought another bed and helped shift him from his bed to the other bed. He kept holding my hand the whole time and his lips were shivering. He kept telling me: Will it hurt? Do it loose. Don’t do hard. Mama hold my hands.

We entered the operation room. I was still holding his hand. Then a doctor arrived. I told him: Your doctor is here. I will go to the bathroom and change. He asked: You wouldn’t be late in the bathroom? I told him: No. I won’t. Then he let go of my hand and hold to his doctor’s hand.

It was a sad and painful moment. I felt totally powerless and couldn’t do much to calm down my son.

I went back to the room and sobbed. How such a young child to go through all these difficult times. Nothing I could do except cry, pray, ask, release and send all my prayers, fears and hopes to Allah.
