Emotional Breakdown in a hotel in Nizwa

Yesterday 26th November 2025, we checked-in a hotel in Nizwa.

It is a 3 star hotel which has got a high ranking and positive reviews.

When we reached there, I didn’t realize that I booked 3 bedrooms in booking.com website.

I told the receptionist: 2 bedrooms are enough because we normally share the beds. But he insisted I can’t change because I reserved the rooms online and because the rooms are small.

So I accepted, paid the bill and went to the bedrooms to check. After we saw the bedrooms, we realized that 2 bedrooms are actually enough for us and we don’t need 3 bedrooms.

I called the receptionist when I was in the room to request cancel the third bedroom and the paid amount to be utilized in the restaurant or maybe for breakfast. But the receptionist refused and insisted that any booking online is payable and I can’t change unless it is before the checking-in 48 hours.

I was talking. He was talking. I got mad because he wouldn’t listen. Then I requested to speak to his manager or the person in-charge. He said: I am the manager and I am in charge. I said: Okay I am coming to your office. He replied: Yes please come.

I was shivering at that moment, about to cry and breathing so fast. I asked my mother-in-law to accompany me because I knew the conversation will be overly heated.

We arrived the front desk office. I saw the guy. I refused to speak to him and requested for another person. Another staff came and told me: But he is the senior and he is the one in-charge. I told him: I don’t care if he is your senior. He has an unacceptable attitude and the service is just not bearable. He was trying to talk to me and I just said: Stop it. Don’t talk to me. I am shivering right now. I can’t even look into your eyes.

The other guy immediately understood my situation and asked: What is it you want? I told him: I don’t need 3 bedrooms. I only need 2 bedrooms and I want to cancel the 3rd bedroom. Give me a solution.

He said: Ok. Don’t worry. What do you think if we cancel the booking, refund you the full amount and then you do another new booking for only the 2 bedrooms? I accepted. The guy I clashed with suggested the paid amount to be utilized at the hotel restaurant. I refused and requested to refund me the full amount.

I can’t forget this experience. The switch between negative to positive also surprised me. And I thank Allah for all.
