How to Disrupt Teaching?
When it comes to teaching, I like to reverse my thinking. I ask: What is it to teaching? How can I make the content more relatable to the students? How can I get out of the comfortable bubble of teaching and do the work, the art that matters?
Going to the classroom and passively lecture students don’t work anymore. The information age, the AI, the GBT already replace your lecturing role. The text books, the notes, the PPT slides and the handouts are only a tool in your teaching process.
The thing that is truly missing here is your human interaction part. Your connection with the students. The relationship you get to develop with the students throughout the semester. The problems you get to solve. The empowering, independence and self-resilience you train the students. And the space and conditions you provide for the students to communicate, collaborate, approach and meet up.
So what will you do next? Will you continue teaching the same routine way or will you disrupt it with out-of-the-box creativity and thinking?
