Psychology Fitness in a Messy Academia

The academia route is both motivating and depressing. You see yourself at times moving forward, reading, writing, researching, engaging and collaborating. But other times, you also find yourself depressed, disappointed and frustrated.

In such a context, I always remind myself: Who created this system? Who is the owner of this system? What is my role in it? What is for me and what isn’t? Where are my personal limits?

This is where psychology fitness comes along. You can’t shape everything. You can perfect everything to suit your expectations. If you don’t own the system, leave it and find yourself something else to attach to.

Others may say: Where is the integrity in this? What is right and what is wrong? Aren’t we supposed to align the system goals with the academician goals?

Well the truth hurts but here it is: You don’t own the system. It is not yours to put your terms and statements. If what is happening doesn’t fall in the integrity meaning, then don’t blame yourself for it. Leave it peacefully with the sanity of your mind and heart.

You don’t belong to this system. You never did. You are just you who happened to work in this system to utilize means for your daily living activities.
