Marathon Experience 10 km, 2025
Yesterday 21 February 2025 was the day I joined the 10 km marathon at Al Mouj Muscat.
The number of participants was huge. The t-shirt we were given to wear was purple.
We started running at 6.10 am. At the beginning it was ok. But when we left Al Mouj route and ran on the long route heading to Athaiba, that was the time I felt exhausted and my muscles and joints hurt a lot.
I was taking breaks in between my jogging to drink sips of water and give my muscles rest.
The best thing about such collective experiences is that they push you to do your best. When you look at the person next to you running, you are like: If she can run, why can’t I. When you see a person slows down, you push yourself even hurder to challenge yourself.
I utilized the marathon to enjoy the view of sky, clouds, roads, land and green bushes.
While jogging, there were the volunteers standing at the side of the route to cheer for us, give us bottles of water and encourage us to move on.
When I arrived the finish line, it was 9.50 am. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to finish the race. I was totally exhaused and my thighs , legs and feet were soar.
I couldn’t find the bus to drop us to the car parking area. So I continued walking which led my steps to +20000 and nearly 14 km total of running and walking.
When I arrived home, the only thing I could do was rest, lay down, drink plenty of fluids and chill.
What an experience. I probably expect to repeat the 10 km again next year insha Allah because I have got lots of training and body tunning to do to prepare for such a race.
