New Routine in Hospital
Its almost 2 months since my 4 years old son had his halo pelvic traction surgery.
We settled into a daily routine and the routine regularly changed according to his body needs and progress.
At the moment I observe his increased interest to walk and move rather than staying in bed.
The following is the current daily routine happening:
He wakes up around 9.00 am and the 1st thing he asks is: I want to walk.
After brushing his teeth and cleaning him, we go measure his height and walk around the hospital lobbies with me feeding him at the same time. The walking time period is about 1 to 2 hours.
At 12.00 pm when we are back to bed, we would have our lunch, chill and take a nap.
At 3.00 pm, we would have our snack and drink. Then he would start playing his toys (cars, shooting guns and building blocks) arranged on the bed.
After that, we go walking again in the ward, visit his other patient friends and spend time in the playroom.
At 6.00 pm, it is the time we have dinner, relax and video chat our family and friends. Then at 7.30 pm, we go walking again and spend some time outside with the cold breeze.
At 9.00 am, we are already back to our bed, probably having a snack or drink and preparing to sleep.
Finally, I can’t say this is all easy or straightforward. There are many twists and turns in the journey. You would have some bad days and good days. And what matters is your inner response and perspective towards all this. Your values and beleifs. What matters to you and what doesn’t. And how you would approach this using Allah’s lens.
