Attachment and How it can Serve us
Attachment is something in our nature. Allah created us in such a way we need to attach no matter what for our survival.
Examples of attachments are:
A child attached with the mother
A parent attached with the children and sacrifices his health to provide the best for them
A student attached to score excellent grades to make his parents happy
A worshiper attached with God and sees and hears everything through the divine lens
A rich man attached with money and sees no meaning in life and living unless he has money multiplying in his bank account
After reading those examples, you may wonder: How can I make my attachments serve me instead of against me?
Well it is important firstly to recognise Allah’s guidelines and words in that area before you personally attach with it.
For example, kids. Many attach to kids. We want the best for them. We want them to be happy, healthy, strong, well educated and entertained. But what Allah says about kids? What statements and words you notice in Quran that God uses when talking about kids?
That would give you a clue how you can attach to them. Is it worth it your energy and time? Does it make any sense? Is it really that important? What is the balanced way of attaching in this area?
You can do the same process in other areas as well to decide for yourself.
