Pros and Cons of Today’s Wedding Parties

I am writing this post and I know it can trigger others’ anger and frustration.

I have been attending wedding parties recently and I notice some observations in form of pros and cons.

With pros, it helps to gather all family members to witness a man and woman getting married. Also it is a great chance for families to pray for the couple, contribute to help wherever they can and gather and meet up happily and joyfully.

With cons, it gets more expensive to conduct a wedding celebration nowadays. More demands are requested by the extended families. The party doesn’t only include a family gathering to witness the couple getting married. But it is rather an event to show off how the couple love each other, to prolong the celebration from one party to several parties like malka party, dowery party, henna party and the wedding party.

Unfortunately the focus is on conducting the parties and celebrations. But what about the bride and the groom? What do they really need? Are they psychologically, mentally and emotionally prepared for the marriage life? Does the bride knows her rights and obligations as a wife? Does the groom knows his rights and obligations as a husband? Are they familiar with the basics of the ups and downs of a marriage life?
