Manipulation and Convincing
Nowadays, manipulation and convincing show up in many forms and patterns.
One of them is sending out statements. For example, a person says: You should make yourself happy. Whatever it takes, if it makes you happy, do it.
Another example is: You need to go out. Staying in doors is no good for you. Even if you feel uncomfortable going out, do it. Uncomforting is good for you.
For such scenarios, I often reflect: What are the intentions behind these statements? Am I here just by myself or I have one Lord watching me and hearing me all the time?
Don’t take in any statements any person tells you. Even if it is your best friend, parent, sibling. Question it. Challenge it. Ask hard questions. And always refer to the Holy Book of Quran. Always.
