Enough with Womanhood and Motherhood
In this time zone, I notice an increasing unnecessary pressure on us women. The society expects us to be perfect as mothers, excellent as workers, hard workers as business creators and super in social obligations.
Well, in this context, I refer to Allah’s statement in Quran: “God does not burden a soul beyond its capacity” in Surat Al Baqara, Aya 286. This indicates that we are not supposed to be perfect in everything we do. We have limits in our capacity and energy. It is ok to have flaws and imperfections. It is alright to feel tired and wanting to rest. It is fine to pause and reflect. It is ok if you did mistakes, learn from them and grow.
After reflecting and processing, I say to myself: I am ok with spreading my energy equally as a mother, a teacher, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a business creator.
I don’t care anymore about what others say or think. Even if I remain all my working years as a teacher, if I am fulfilling the demands of different areas of my life in a balanced way, then I am fine and I don’t buy in the pill of perfectionism and career success anymore.
