From Teaching to Contributing
Teaching is something so ingrained in me. It is something I started doing naturally from a young age.
Teaching in the traditional sense is following the curriculum and programs approved by the education institution. It is transferring whatever targeted knowledge and skills to the students.
Coming to teaching as a contribution, it is something else. It means to use teaching in the broad spectrum. It refers to use teaching as a service to serve the existing community and society.
To broaden your perspective about teaching, look around you. Observe people in your work and informal environment. What are their needs? What problems they are facing? What common conversations they are having? What they need to thrive and excel in life?
After writing down your answers, now you are in a good place to position yourself. As a teacher, what else can you teach to cause a positive impact? What other groups of people you may teach to solve a current problem? What other topics or ideas you may teach around to make a difference in the way people think and live?
Doing this reflective process with yourself and your perspective as a teacher can unlock doors for you to tap into your hidden potential. Again, you are not just a teacher in the current institution. You could also be an influencer, a coach, a mentor, a speaker, a problem solver or a change making agent.
