How to do your best?

There is this powerful affirmation I was listening to when I was commuting to work today which is: I do my best and push myself to the maximum.

Here I was wondering: Why do we pull back? Why we give only a part of our efforts and not the maximum? Why we pretend to be busy so we don’t get extra work?

Going deeper, I find fear, lack of trust, and lack of ambition and drive. When you don’t have a clear and well reflected drive and meaning inside yourself, you won’t give your best.

I can’t deny the cultural stereotypes we picked along the way like: if I do my best, they will dump me with extra work, if I do my best I won’t be rewarded, if I do my best I will be taken advantage of, and on and on such myths exist.

But then we humans have got an inner flame inside ourselves to do our best, to be distinguished, to be of full service, to challenge ourselves and to perform our best and maximum efforts.

It doesn’t mean you are selfish and you want all the attention and spot light to be onto you. But rather it is our human nature and the untapped potential that needs to come out.

It is ok to do your best. It is ok to push yourself to the maximum to achieve your goals. It doesn’t matter if the management doesn’t appreciate you or remember you. What matters is you fulfilling your inner drive and passion. What matters is you tapping into your hidden potential and utilize it to the maximum for yourself in specific and for the overall humanity.
