How to Ground Yourself?
There are many situations where you want to do everything, complete all the tasks in your to-do-list and more.
The problem with this is it causes frustration, burning out and fatigue. You become exhausted end of the day and tired.
Personally, when this happens, I like to come back to my senses. What is happening here? Why am I rushing? Why do I want to do more than what I have to do? What is the inner wound I want to fill?
Common statements like: I have to do this. I must finish it today. It must happen. Or I won’t be enough or good enough.
This is the killer statement that drives majority’s behavior today. When you tell yourself: I have to, I must and should to, this is where you lock yourself into a small, limited box. You can’t really live and experience life to the fullest. Your focus would be on being right rather than being happy.
So, in such a context, I like to think about grounding myself. I focus on the present moment. What am I doing now? How can I give my full focus and energy to the current task I am doing? Whatever other mental distractions pop up inside my mind, I declutter them straightaway when I refer to the present moment.
This is such a freeing and exhilarating feeling. You become free of your mental chains in that moment. You also receive peace, stillness, calmness and positive energy.
